Today is the 21st of February 2012 and, as written as shown, today is a palindrome date. I remember heading to the store one time and a I walked to he car, I noticed the serial number on the $10 bill was a palindrome - same digits foward and backward. My wife didn't quite understand when I went back in the house and asked for some money.
"I just gave you some, what else do we need?" she asked.
"I can't spend this - look at the serial number."
There's something about the beauty and balance of a palindrome. I see them on my odometer all the time and keep an eye out for the next one. The palindromic year was 2002 and the next won't be around for another hundred years - 2112!
Check out the perfect squares that are also palindromes: 121, 484, 676, 10201, 12321, 14641, 40804, ...
Hmmmm... their square roots, respectively are 11, 22, 26, 101, 111, 121, and 202... Can't help but wonder about how 26 got in there. Are there other non-palindromes that when squared result in a palindrome? If 44944 is the next perfect square in the sequence (212 x 212), I wonder what the next one is?
Never odd or even.
–Just another palindrome.
